This value-added meat processor was preparing to adopt new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software in place of multiple existing programs. To help assist in this massive undertaking, they engaged MCG to map all current processes, offer potential improvement recommendations, and oversee the management of the implementation in collaboration with the software provider. Defining current processes before the adoption of ERP software is a critical part of success. When this step is overlooked, companies are often faced with changes to the program after install/commissioning due to miscommunications in how processes are performed. Further to mapping, if there are “quick wins” (low effort, high impact changes) that can be had in production, it is ideal to make these changes prior to the adoption of ERP.
